Seven months in and I’ve finally been able to finish our master bedroom! I’m so excited to share all the photos with you today!!!
I truly did not expect how much time, energy, and money decorating a two-story home would require. It is a huge commitment that I don’t think I was prepared for!
The first few months after moving in, I was focused on getting the space we use the most, the living/kitchen/dining area, fully furnished and decorated. I was hosting a bridal shower in May so I knew that was the highest priority to complete. Spending two months on the largest space in my house was a huge time commitment and honestly, I was exhausted once it was done. I took a few months off from even thinking about the house, found out I was pregnant for the second time, and then lost the pregnancy soon after. All of that stole my focus away from working on the house and I went into rest & recovery mode. Once August hit, I decided that it was time to get our house in order, and I decided I would focus on one room a month, budgeting it in and reserving big parts of my weekend to working on it.
Well, it’s October now, and I’ve been working on the master bedroom since August (insert crying-laughing emoji). I don’t think I took into account how much time this room would require, as it is the most used room in our home besides the living room. I’m done with the decor aspect, but I’m still trying to find the time to organize all of our drawers and master closet!
Next up, I want to replace our dining room table & chairs, get a new rug for the living room (the dogs have torn it up), and organize and paint the laundry room and half bath. After that, it’ll be time to overhaul upstairs!
With this bedroom, I gathered inspiration from Pinterest and intentionally tried to create a theme similar to our living room. I want our house to tell the same story with each room, without all looking the same, you know?
Our bedroom is so serene and comfortable. I don’t feel like it’s so overdecorated that I can’t relax and enjoy it. There’s not so much clutter that I have to walk through a thousand steps to keep it orderly and decorated. I know exactly where every item goes and there’s no excess.
I’ll be taking the next two months off from buying anything home related so we can use those funds for the holidays, but then I’ll start back up decorating in January!
Shop the room!
Let me know what you think! 🙂
