Hello Friends! I thought I’d share a little Home Update with you all today.
Believe it or not, we are coming up on the one year anniversary of living in our house. When we first moved in, I did not anticipate the amount of time, energy, & MONEY $$$ it would require to furnish & decorate a two-story home. While we aren’t using most of our upstairs yet (this is definitely a home we will grow into over the years), I still want to begin to clean out the unnecessary clutter, organize the rooms that are currently being used as storage, and make our guest room and upstairs den warm and inviting!
WHAT WE’VE DONE SO FAR
The two biggest spaces in our home are mostly complete: the living room and master bedroom/bathroom. I would like to buy new coffee & end tables (ours are kinda worn out), and we recently replaced our rug because rugs + dogs = gross. I’d eventually love to buy a new dining table with benches (this one is the dream), but we aren’t in any hurry to do that yet. There’s bigger priorities!
I’m so glad we finished furnishing and decorating the living room, as that’s the room most visitors see when they’re over. Most people are hanging out in the master bedroom, but it is nice to have an inviting space to relax in at the end of the day!
One of my main goals (as I referenced last week) this year is to finish our house. But before I can even begin, I’ve gotta clean it out. Though it’s only January, I’m ready to begin my spring cleaning! I’ve got a lot of stuff in our empty bedroom that I need to sell (either through OfferUp or Facebook Marketplace), clothes I’ll list on Poshmark (stay tuned!), and donations to drop off. I’m hoping to use the money we make on those sales towards some new things I want to buy for our upstairs den, guest bedroom, and possibly office. Oh yeah, and I’ve gotta get to organizing the garage…eventually.
Throughout the course of this year, I’ll be sharing room befores, updates throughout the journey, and official room tours once they’re completed. I’m hoping that by documenting the process, it will keep me motivated and inspired to keep going!
Here’s my inspiration for one of my first projects of the year: the upstairs den.
I want the upstairs living area to have a similar feel & style as our main living room, but on a smaller scale! I’m excited to venture out and use some wallpaper. I’ve been eyeing this one from Serena & Lily!
Excited to share more home inspiration with you soon. Here’s some of my current favorite home finds!
